Bio

Kate Weidner is a journalist turned social media, marketing and CPG expert - putting her comms skills to use for good.
After starting her career in government and politics, Kate studied at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, graduating at the top of her class before beginning a career in sports journalism. An early entrant to digital media, she helped lead her network’s evolution into online publishing before moving to the agency world to lead Production at Frequency540, which was acquired by Leo Burnett in 2015.
From there, Kate co-founded wellness-focused agency SRW with Charlie Stone, helping challenger brands including Simple Mills, Vital Proteins and Good Culture break through and grow. Kate and Charlie sold SRW to fast-growing brokerage C.A. Fortune in 2024, where Kate now serves as Chief Creative Officer.
Kate lives in Oak Park with her husband and three children. After experiencing infant loss during her second pregnancy, she devotes much of her free time to supporting families through the Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, along with serving as a Girl Scout leader.

Kate published her viral essay on infant loss the day she returned from the hospital without her son, Everett. Since then, she has continued her work to support fellow loss parents through the support groups, fundraisers, volunteer work and - most healing of all - through her writing.
